On Friday June 9th the GMRC in partnership with the RRWMC (Restigouche River Watershed Management Council) and the Harmony project came together and planted over 900 trees along the Matapedia River.

In time these trees will grow to protect the river in many ways. The foliage will provide shade in the summer for the fish, and the roots will help prevent erosion.

The GMRC would like to thank L’Association Forestierè de la Gaspesié for providing the trees and also thank the youth and volunteers who helped dig the holes and plant them.
