Kelt Monitoring Research

We are currently participating in a kelt (black salmon) monitoring project in the Restigouche river. Some of you may have noticed some yellow buoys out on the water. There are six in total; 3 West of the bridge and 3 East of the bridge.

The buoys are there to track certain kelts as they pass by. The purpose is to be able to determine:
•    When they make their way out to sea;
•    When they return from the sea; and
•    How many times the kelt return to spawn.

If you have questions about the project please drop by the office, get in touch with us through Facebook or you can email our Environment Manager, Denny Isaac at disaac@migmaqresource.org
