Fish Friends program to be delivered in three schools

We are pleased to announce that we have received approval to deliver the Fish Friends program again this year. Funding from the Atlantic Salmon Conservation Foundation will allow us to set up fish tanks with salmon eggs in three schools; Alaqsite’w Gitpu School, L.E.R. School, and Terry Fox Elementary.

This initiative gives young students, ranging from grade 3 to grade 5, the opportunity to follow the development of the salmon from egg to fry. It is also a great chance to learn more about the salmon life cycle, habitat conservation, and its importance to our communities.

Last year approximately 900 salmon were raised in classrooms and released into the Nepisiguit river.
